Date formats

The format parameter that is used in many of the functions support the PHP date format definitions for interpreting dates and times. Additionally it also supports the "Q" format character for quarters. When converting quarters it will be interpreted as the first day of the first month of the quarter (e.g. Q=2 means April 1st).
